Edius 8.5 und BT2020

  • Hallo liebe Leute,

First of all file has to be graded as HDR which is very difficult if you don't have HDR monitoring. Once you do have proper HDR file then you are limited to open source tools. Export ProRes, DNxHR, HQX master and use ffmpeg.

    ffmpeg -i "DNxHR/ProRes source" -pix_fmt yuv420p10le -c:v libx265 -preset fast -b:v 50M -x265-params
    keyint=60:bframes=3:vbv-bufsize=75000:vbv-maxrate=75000:hdr-opt=1:repeat-headers=1:colorprim=bt2020:transfer=smpte-st-2084:colormatrix=bt2020nc:master-display="G(13250,34500)B(7500,3000)R(34000,16000)W P(15635,16450)L(10000000,500)" -c:a aac -b:a 256K -y "output.ts"

These numbers are for P3 D65 1000nits graded file. You can try to skip whole master-display section if you just have "some" HDR file.
Copy file to pen drive and play with your TV internal player.
    Based on this:

    --master-display <string>

SMPTE ST 2086 mastering display color volume SEI info, specified as a string which is parsed when the stream header SEI are emitted. The
    string format is “G(%hu,%hu)B(%hu,%hu)R(%hu,%hu)WP(%hu,%hu)L(%u,%u) ”
where %hu are unsigned 16bit integers and %u are unsigned 32bit integers. The SEI includes X,Y display primaries for RGB channels and white point (WP) in units of 0.00002 and max,min luminance (L) values in units of 0.0001 candela per meter square. Applicable for HDR content.

    Example for a P3D65 1000-nits monitor, where G(x=0.265, y=0.690), B(x=0.150, y=0.060), R(x=0.680, y=0.320), WP(x=0.3127, y=0.3290), L(max=1000, min=0.0001):
    G(13250,34500)B(7500,3000)R(34000,16000)WP(15635,1 6450)L(10000000,1)

Note that this string value will need to be escaped or quoted to protect against shell expansion on many platforms. No default.

you can adjust numbers for any color space. You just get coordinates and white point from the net/wiki etc and multiply by 50000, except for L values which is by 10000.

Just don't try to take any file and play it as HDR as this will end up as crap. You have to use e.g. Resolve with BM card to have proper HDR preview. Other way is to encode file and use MPC-HC with madVR renderer with modern GPU in order to pass HDR headers over HDMI. Here is more info about it:
    https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=146228
you have to search for info about HDR mode. It's far from "plug and play" solution as it depends on GPU and drivers/OS version.

    Nachtrag noch eingelangt:
Edius is not HDR ready at all - no HDR scopes, no HDR monitoring (although you can bypass this). No export option which can facilitate HDR needs etc. If he has HDR project he should rather look at Resolve or at least Premiere at this moment. Even those won't deliver all in one solution and you will still have to do bit of "work arounds".

  • Was die Ausgabe betrifft - solltest Du erst mal feststellen was Dein Fernseher denn so annimmt z.B.

    Gruss

  • Hallo Ihr Lieben,
